The Unloc Enterprise Academy is a programme to enable schools and colleges to inspire, motivate and develop the enterprising mindsets of their young people.
We passionately believe in enabling young people to develop their own skills through setting up and testing their own businesses, projects and ideas. Personal development is at the heart of everything Unloc does and this programme embodies that ethos.
The programme was established by co-founders Hayden Taylor and Ben Dowling, both successful young entrepreneurs with a long history of working in and around business since a very young age. In 2014, Hayden and Ben made the call to launch the Enterprise Academy as a platform to help others develop skills to start their own journeys. The Enterprise Academy has a clear focus on assisting young people both in terms of developing their skills and enabling those who want to find self-employment to do so; Hayden and Ben have ensured that these two key outcomes are at the heart of everything the Academy does.
Delivering Our Vision
We offer two distinctive learning opportunities; the ‘short course’ and the ‘high impact enterprise day’. These opportunities are designed to help students create, plan and start their own businesses or at the very least, explore this potential career pathway. Unloc has a proven model which has led to lots of young entrepreneurs leading their own businesses as well as young people reaching their creative potential to acquire the jobs they want.
Our short-course is 12-week course that gives young people the chance to create their own business through interactive practical learning. The short-course covers the key skills and learning points associated with starting your own business. We structure our course around the business model canvas as a way of helping students visualise their business plan.
Our enterprise days are high-impact days that are designed to put large groups of students through their entrepreneurial paces. They enable participants to be creative and develop their entrepreneurial mindsets. These days help spark students imagination and see enterprise as a real career path in the future and developing skills. Each day consists of a number of short skills masterclasses and a challenge linked to a brief of building their own business by the end of the day.
