Here at the Unloc Enterprise Academy, we’re proud to announce that we have recently started our first ever short course at Alton College! The course began on the 1st of November and it will be for a total of 12 weeks and will cover all the essential topics that students need to begin their own business venture .
The primary aim of the short course is to foster an entrepreneurial mindset by encouraging each student to create their very own business by the end of the 12 weeks. Each week wis broken down into different aspects of the essential business skills needed to get started from the ground up. We will be covering topics such as marketing, ideation, digital media, finance and pitching.
We’ve already covered two weeks and here’s what the students got up too:
Week 1 – The environment for learning
Week one was all about creating an environment for learning. Students were introduced to the business model canvas as well as exploring their own passions. The business model canvas gave students an insight of what it takes to run a successful business and helps break it down in to the key components. Meanwhile, allowing students to think about their passions meant that they began to think about their business ideas.
Week 2 – Ideation time at Alton College
Week two is all about ideation in enterprise. During this time the students will further look into options for their businesses as well as different business structures. Within these business structures we will explore social enterprises, for-profit businesses and charities.
As the course continues at Alton College, we will continue to explore all aspects of creating a business (as mentioned above). As always, we will be focusing on delivering engaging, fun and interactive sessions for all of our students.
